Obs,

        This is my only complaint with Mail, too.  I work around it by 
using the down arrow and the preview panel to work my way through a 
thread or mailbox.  I used Netscape 4.x for years and then tried the 
newer Netscape for MacOsX, which was a true POS (the only unstable 
program I found for MacOsX that could take the whole OS down, BTW).  
Later I "discovered" Mozilla and find it wonderful but haven't found a 
utility that'll convert all my friggin' Mail data back to Mozilla Mail 
data.  Dragging the mailboxes and folders over didn't work either.

        If you don't want to buy Office and Entourage, Mozilla Mail is a 
fine program that only needs a Mail import utility.
