ROFL!!! USB did not take off in the market until the advent of the iMac.

USB ports were shipping on Windows PCs for nearly *two years*, prior, 
yet USB devices were relatively rare.

The entire USB market took off when the iMac (with nothing but) shipped.

(and no, I'm not an Apple employee, nor am I merely spouting 
Macevangelism; I'm speaking as a system administrator of an 
overwhelmingly PC-centric network of some 300-400 systems, commenting on 
what I've seen in the marketplace for the last several years.)

And in reference to your digital camera mention, I'd *really* like to 
see a few examples of Digital Cameras that have USB 2.0 only...

I searched <http://www.everythingusb.com> and found *three* entries in 
the list of digital and video cameras that had USB 2.0. Two were 
web-cams, and there was a single HP Photosmart (Photosmart 612) digital 
camera listed. It was a 2.11 megapixel camera...not really all that 
high-end.
