Eh, you still wouldn't need USB 2, because you could just use 'em with
regular USB.

I think Apple might start putting USB 2 on their computers starting
around the beginning of next year. They put FireWire first on the
PowerMac, then the iMac, then the PowerBook, and finally the iBook, and
it took about a year and a half (IIRC). Now they put FireWire 800 on
the PowerBook, and probably everything will have it by the end of the
year. Once everything has FireWire 800 (on some models they'll probably
have just a FireWire 800 port and include an adapter), they can start
thinking about putting USB 2 on their stuff. But for now, any external
device you could want is available in FireWire.

Actually, I was thinking the other day... why does anyone even use USB?
Why can't all Macs just have three or four FireWire ports and use
FireWire mice and keyboards and FireWire digital cameras and the like?
Standardizing on FireWire would be cool. Of course, I'm sure there's
some sort of issue preventing that from happening, otherwise it might
have already happened.
