If the wireless LAN you end up getting is 802.11b or 802.11g, then just go ahead and plug an airport card in (airport standard, not the newer 'extreme' version). That will equip your iBook to run on any 802.11b/g wireless network. In the more and more unlikely event it is an 802.11a system, you have a little less luck. There may be a USB solution, but I don't know of one. Your iBook (like all others) has no PC card slot, so there is no way of adding any kind of card to it other than apple's own Airport card. FWIW, I run an iBook that uses an airport card to connect to a Netgear access point, then through a generic switch of some sort to a windows box, where it is routed out to the net using the built in internet connection sharing of Win XP. No 2 brands are alike, but it all works well. If you have any influence on which wireless network you get, try to aim for either the 802.11b or 802.11g systems. 'b' runs at 11Mbps, 'g' runs at 55Mbps. 'g' is backwards compatible with the 'b' that your iBook uses (with help from the airport card) Hope this helps, Wiebe. -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
