Maybe my luck on this is unusual... but I've always found you can just 
press them back down into place. Just makes sure it's over the round 
switch and square and push--voila--little clicking noise lets you know 
it went on ok. done this on 300Mhz iBook, G4 iBook (latest iteration) 
and various TiBooks (recently. I accidentally pop the top row pulling 
up the keyboard.)
