Years ago, in the days of SIMMs (I think, maybe even before that), it was necessary to install them into 386-class PCs as matched pairs (IIRC). Is it this that you're half-remembering?


some macs use interleaved memory, such as the 7600/8600/9600, those based on the socalled Hammerhead logic board, and benefit from same size modules on paired slots. similar thing for the 2 x 2 and 2,5 x,2 G5.

This does not apply to PowerBooks.
