This is my wife's setup and I am becoming a believer. I love the 12" form factor for travel, work in non-desk situations (plane, train, coffee shop, airport, living room sofa, etc.) and for when you're at home/office, a nice 17" external TFT monitor (they have really come down in price too!) gives you a superb 29" of screen real estate (if you have monitor spanning, which even my wife's G3/900 iBook has, thanks to the spanning hack).... all for a lot less than the $3000 sticker price of a 30-inch cinema HD! (not a fair comparison, I know, but the wife's setup is outstanding value at about $750 for the whole lot: used iBook and new Samsung 17" LCD). Everyone's needs are different, obviously. I'm now keeping my eyes peeled for a super deal on used 12" AlBook 1Ghz and up, with DVI for an external monitor. Sweet.
