But I did notice, as soon as I started, my disk space was reduced by the full amount of the download, and finder says the files are 3.49 and 4.26 GB in size. If I try to mount one of the iso's Disk Utility says the same thing yours did, that no mountable filesystem was found.

No, ncftp does it properly, file size is only what has been delivered, plus resume works great. I got it via ftp since bittorrent was so bad, from the site in .se.

I'm not sure what's up with the .iso (should be ISO9660, Laurent, but I think there are a couple flavors) but I have the divx version downloaded now.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to move the divx to a format quicktime can handle, or to a format that Toast can make a DVD from. Info I have from a web forum is thus:

Try ffmpegX. If that doesn't work, there used to be an app called divxTool, that allowed you to change the fourcc of the movie to make it compatible with QT. There was also DivX Validator, which could convert to DivX QT movies. And there is still DivX Doctor from 3ivx, which rewrites DivX AVIs to DivX MOVs, essentially the same thing. If all of that doesn't work, I would then try the ffmpeg codec. If you don't have any luck, or can't find some of these tools, email me.

I tried the ffmpeg thing, it may or may not have been working, I needed the laptop for something else so stopped it early and haven't had time to get back to it.

I have the .mov version but since both divx and .iso exist and would be such higher quality I really want to get a DVD made from one of those sources.

If someone has inpu on the divx conversion please do share. I am not sure when this weekend I will work on that again.
