Its not that American cars are junk it's that a lot of people don't know how to take care of them. Change the oil and perform regular maintenance and 200k + miles is not a problem. I've had several American cars last this long, foreign too. Working on 201k on a Toyota and has a Pontiac Bonneville with 214k on it before I traded it.
