Best bet is to just get a better computer, if you can afford it.
Although one might not want to have my upgrade schedule (I've had 3 G4s in the past
two years, plus
a QS on the way), best to upgrade the puter - it gives you the advantage of not only a
better
processor, but the other hardware to back it up (motherboard, etc.). You will be
extremely happy
with a newer computer, especially one that can run OS X, if you opt for it. Also,
you'll be forever
buying gadets and adapters for your 7600, forever trying to wrestle with compatibility
issues, and
driver issues, and tech support issues ("your running our video card on a WHAT?")....
Since you want to upgrade for speed and to take advantage of the technology, it would
make sense to
upgrade the whole shmoe instead of trying to make old technology work like the newer
stuff. Usually,
I would recommend not upgrading at the badgering of others, or because other people
are badgering.
Upgrade when you feel you need to.
