If you use packet-writing software, such as formatting disks with UDF using
Direct CD, you don't have this lead in/out, (usually estimated at 13 MB),
though the total capacity maybe 550MB instead of 650MB. With UDF you can
just "copy" files onto it in the normal manner, without using a burning app
explicitly. Can only be read in a burner drive, unless you  "close" the disk.
