that's why i had them in the window for a week, they got several hours
of sunlight a day, although i know from using the sun to make circuit
boards you get most of the uv around high noon (although at 5000+ feet
we do get more anyway).  i'll have to try it on my uv board exposer this
summer in my "workshop" (i've got a uv source designed for exposing etch
resist on circuit boards).  it might well destroy them more quickly, as
uv often does to many things.  i suspect the different dyes might be
substantially different in this regard.  i do note that sony claims 100
year stability, assuming it's in the case, i assume that's because of
the uv or ir problem.  then again i think the plastic is polycarbonate,
which i believe is fairly tolerant of uv and blocks it fairly well,
although there is very little plastic between the dye and the world. 
ps, i know it absorbed a great deal of water as it initially floated
after being unwrapped, after a few days it sunk.
