Hello G-Listers,
Probably with the help of XPostFacto, I was able to
install the Jag
 upgrade via the following method:
Booting OS 9 from an internal IDE HDD partition,
inserting the CD, launching XPostFacto, selecting an
external SCSI HDD with 10.1.5 on it. I don't have the
XPostFacto settings, but I assume they were the
default ones. From Jag installer, I customized the
install (among other things,excluding BSD).
When the restart came on, the usual 'infinite loop'
re-appeared:
you get two choices - restart or shut down.
In desperation, I typed control-command-escape and
amazingly got the
log-in dialogue box, and was able to get to Finder
stage!
It's slow on the external SCSI HDD. I don't expect
it'll be any
better if I upgrade the internal IDE HDD (also with
10.1.5). Any Beige DT users care to comment on the
advantages of Jag on Beige? The current set-up is fast
for my modest purposes and the hardware is ancient
(Beige Rev.A, 768 MB Ram, 400 MHz/1 MB cache G3, Mac
16" Color Display (fixed res.), ATI Rage 128 16 MB,
56k connection).
Cheers
George
