The OWC 533 MHz G3 is *almost* a drop-in. I was upgrading my Beige G3/333 MT to 533, and I discovered ... to my surprise and shock ... that the OWC ZIF *did not* come with the required insulator. If that insulator is not in place on the G3 chip, then the heat sink will not properly seat on the processor ... and you probably know what that means. I had to carefully remove the insulator from my old 333 using an exceptionally sharp surgeon's knife while under a microscope and then I transferred this washer to the new 533. This "operation" thereby rendered the old 333 completely useless for upgrading my 266. Yes, the 533 upgrade works fine. But, *do* ask first about the insulating washer before buying this upgrade. My post-sales e-mails to OWC regarding this situation hasn't resulted in any response at all from anyone at OWC. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
