Gee this is a great idea, I second it. Get him something like an 8500 or 8600, teach him how to capture video & audio out of his VCR or camera get him a huge harddrive (anything over 10GB will do) and see the kid have fun! Or connect the VCR to the computer's video input just to watch whatever's on TV. There's NOTHING like watching cartoons on the Mac's monitor (I connected the N64 to the Mac and the kids did not want me to switch later on!), and with the extra LOUD speakers of my 15 inch Apple Multi-Scan monitor my kids thought that was SO COOL!
