I would set him up with a Mac for all his everyday stuff, but as far as gaming goes. Get an Xbox. I have had an Xbox for over 6 months, and it rocks. They have a very impressive game line up. Halo, Unreal Championship, Jedi Knight II just to start with. I use to be a hard core Mac gamer, but no more. The XBox satisfies all my needs.
