Hello,
I'd like some recomendations on a digital camera in the $200.00 range. There are so many, and the things to look for are so different from a conventional camera. My biggest problem may be a USB port. My G3-mt does not have a built in port. I have a USB card installed that works well for what I am using. Are there any cameras that can work with an external USB port?
Thanks

Things to look for is whether you want 4x6 prints only or 8x10 occassionally. 3 megapixels will do both very nicely, but 2 megapixel is on the low end of the spectrum, so expect good 4x6 prints but not much more than that. Stay with well known photographic brand names like Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Pentax, Olympus, Minolta, Leica, etc... They are more likely to provide better service since photo people knows photo problems better than computer people do. And stay away from cameras with built-in memory for storage. They're okay when they work, but when the memory fails inside the camera, then you're toast.

To download pictures from a USB connection, I suggest getting one of those Sandisk 6 in 1 or now 8 in 1 card readers and you'll thank me for it. No more messy cables and driver installation. Just stick in your memory card and presto, iPhoto will do its thing if you're in OS X. On OS 9, it will appear as a drive icon.

Hope this helps.
