I'm editing home video movies in iMovie 4 on a G-4 733 running OS 10.3, and trying to do narration and voice-overs with a hand-held microphone that's plugged into a Griffin iMic which in turn is plugged into a USB port on the Mac. I've tried three different little microphones that have accumulated around here over the years, and every one of them introduces a hum along with the voice. Seems like a couple of years ago I used these same microphones to record live piano music into the Mac through the iMic and into a music editing program, and I didn't hear the hum then, although the music may have covered it up.

In iMovie, the hum starts when I click the microphone button in the Audio pane, and my voice just goes over it.

Anybody else been recording his voice into iMovie, and if so what kind of a microphone have you had success with?

Tom
