Thanks for all the info. This is a great list. I really appreciate all
the help. As to the DVD, I tried 3 different ones. I started with the
Pioneer 8X8( the loading drawer is a little larger than most and would
require a mod to the B&W bezel) then tried I/O Magic 4X4 (the eject
tray button wont work with the bezel in place). Finally I tried a
super-generic KHypermedia 4X2 (this one fit and worked fine). I ended
up using the I/O because it was the best compromise(speed, fit, etc) for
me. There is still the issue of the drawer not activating with the
bezel button( I flip down the bezel and push the button) but I am
working on an "invisible" mod to handle that. I had no problems with
any of the three as far as usage went. All would boot ( the Pioneer
was "stubborn" about this at times) and write/rewrite fine. I was able
to make copies of all my install cds and even copied a few dvd's for
giggles, all went fine although I cant tell you now which unit did
what copy.
I am slowly becoming a "mac user" but have to admit I am stilling
running Linux as my everyday and all-purpose box.
Thanks again everyone

A J
