Simple/stupid question ...
I have a B&W which was delivered with a DVD drive.
I did a fresh install of the MacOS from CD-ROM.
DVD player which was installed during that MacOS install reports that the required hardware is not there when I launch it.
Is it possible the dvd drive in your G3 isn't one of the apple supported drives? I put an LG drive in mine at first, and though it would read dvds and burn them in toast, I could not burn in idvd and I believe that apple dvd player reported missing hardware.
