have a B&W which was delivered with a DVD drive.

I did a fresh install of the MacOS from CD-ROM.

DVD player which was installed during that MacOS install reports that the
required hardware is not there when I launch it.

What is the minimum hardware configuration required for playing DVDS on a
B&W G3?

In particular, what video card is required, as that's the only hardware
which I think might be considered to be missing.

Peter,

When I got my B&W it was pretty much stock, except for additional memory (368MB instead of the original 128 MB). It had a factory CDR/DVD ROM drive. The video card was an ATI Rage 128 16MB. It played DVD's fine.

I swapped the video card and CDR/DVD ROM into my old Beige, taking out the Radeon 7000 and the Pioneer 105 for use in the B&W. The Beige plays DVD's well, with this current configuration.

I don't know if this will help, but at least it will give you some parameters to work within. From my limited experience it seems that the B&W should be able to handle DVD's at it's most minimal state, providing the hardware is working properly.
