What I don't get is: when I look at the system requirements for Mozilla

out there who *still* use Windows '95 than use OS9?

Well, you would be both frightened and amazed at how many people still run Win95, often on ancient Pentiums.

Also, in terms of Windows, OS 9 is to Win 3.11, as OS X is to Win XP. Win95 is more like OS X 10.0, or the 10 Beta. It's simpler to write programs that run on Win95 through WinXP without changes than it is to write Mac programs that run on OS 9 and OS X. You can write to the Carbon API, but you give up a lot of stuff that's available in OSX when you use the Cocoa API.

Like it or not, OS 9 is a stagnant OS. Mainstream programs are going to continue to evolve away from it. Programmers have moved on.

WamCom is an impressive effort...a LOT of code had to be written/tweaked to get it to compile properly, and it was a single-person effort.
