I provide tech support for about 3000 small medical offices (less than 50 desktops each). Windows 95 runs around 20%, Windows 98 around 35%, Windows 2000 around 40% and ME/XP make up the remaining 5%. For the most part, even the larger ones that subscribe to Microsoft's volume licensing programs exercise their downgrade rights and image all new XP machines back to 2000. The same for servers where Windows NT still runs around 30%, 2000 runs 65% and 2003 makes up the remaining 5%. Most of the newer Microsoft releases have introduced so many bugs into the system through software compatibilities, it's more common to downgrade than Microsoft will admit. This is true for most vertical markets that I have connections with.

What I don't get is: when I look at the system requirements for Mozilla
1.7.3 linked off the gmail page, it says it supports Windows '95, but
doesn't support OS9. What's up with that? Are there actually more people
out there who *still* use Windows '95 than use OS9?
