I am also interested in the best low cost solution for this - but I also work with a profesional filmmaker who makes DVDs with a $250 standalone DVD recorder. They look great, and don't tie up the computer for simple transfers. If you don't need to edit them this might be a good idea. If you want to edit and customize them then all that's needed is the input device... which I'd like to know about too!
