Subject: Re: Tribute to OS X
Didn't anyone yell and scream when OS9 crashed constantly? I know I did when
I was in pre-press.
Not me, my Mac crashes seldom, aswell as any other Mac I manage...
Instead of yelling and shouting, perhaps you should have used that time to
upgrade your machines so that they have enough resources to run OSX. Or you
could have waited until a technology refresh was warranted and bought
machines that could run it effectively.
Uhm QuickSilver G4s/933MHz and dual 1gig G4s with 1GB RAM aren't that old I guess.....
And I am not yelling, I have been on this list for several years helping people, and I still do, I just felt the need to express my feelings...
There's only one reason why the things you described happen, you must have put OSX on older machines that couldn't handle it. I have Panther on my machines and *work* on them all the time. It's very fast, but that may be because I upgraded my 450 G4 to 800, and my ram to a gig, and put in a 32 meg Radeon card for each monitor.
See above...
You are blaming OSX for your decision to upgrade your OS before you upgraded
your machines. Don't put others off of a fast and productive OS because of
your mistake. You shouldn't have upgraded production boxes without
sufficient testing.
See above...
I run Jaguar on my wife's Beige, but I wouldn't put it in production.
Agreed.
