I found this company that seems to have a USB adapter that should work
for you. <http://www.synchrotech.com/product-usb/card-rw_00.html>  You
should probably email them first to find out.  Other than that, you
should (theoretically) be able to use any PCI adapter that uses a
chipset supported by the version of MacOS you are using.  I think most
(all?) PowerBooks use the Texas Instruments cardbus controllers.  For
example, (IIRC) the 3400 has the PCI1130 and some of the newer ones use
the 14xx series.
