I can confirm this. My friend owns a B&W 400 rev 1 with two 512 meg RAM chips installed. The chips worked fine, EXCEPT that only 256 of the 512 megs was recognized.

A 512MB stick "might" work, but the B/W will only access half that memory, which is its designed max. Was the machine working better before you added it? That would be the first item I'd test by removing to trouble shoot.

It doesn't matter that the other ram sticks are different sizes, but there could be other issues with them
