Well, I decided to reset it, and it came up into OS X. I then decided
to run Disk Utility to verify disk permissions, walked away for five

screen will come back up when the process is done, but otherwise,
well, it'll probably be back to 10.2.0 for me (unless that would make
no difference, of course). Once again, any suggestions?

Don't count on it, just let it run like it is for a long time. Listen
real close and make sure that the disk isn't being accessed and then
again reset using the power switch.
Just remember that you might have the screen blank condition many
times, I run "Cocktail" about ever 3/4 days. I've got mine set to
"Shut-down" when done.
So I just start "Cocktail" and go to bed. When it's done it will shut
the system down and be Okay for another few days.
