I tried the upgrade from the Pioneer site, and it says it "can't find
Device" (it's an OS 9 flasher). I tried several hacks, as well as the
1.68 firmware, but it won't update as I have the latest version.
Would flashing it in a PC work?

Should work. I tried that on my 109 when there was no way to upgrade it on a
Mac. Now Pioneer has with a very nice Panther flasher utility called UpgOSX.
Have you tried that?

Seems to me I've seen a freeware flasher utility for Mac that works too.

A neat way to flash on a PC is to put the drive in a firewire box. Then you
don't need to go inside the PC and a laptop will do the job.

Hope this helps
