Getting way past time for intervention on this thread, but I'll mention that the university my wife teaches at is very full of people from the Detroit ghetto who chose to take advantage of the mechanisms to get out of the ghetto, rather than choosing to murder people.
Everything someone does is a choice. and everyone has choices. This guy made inappropriate ones, and knowingly chose to risk the consequences.
