What if I wanted to plug the CPU directly in the motherboard and tweak the MB's jumpers?

Is that possible? Specifically, I'd have a lot of fun getting my Beige G3 to 66/33/533 by the above scheme.

I'd guess it comes to if it is possible or not to remove the CPU from the extra hardware.

It is a PowerLogix ZIF upgrade I got about a year and half ago. It just plugs in and goes. You set the speed on a dip switch on the ZIF upgrade - no touching the logic board jumper settings. Gives a really nice boost to everything.
