I personally think that a lot of the hype about open wireless is, well, hype.
Look, the encryption is all useless, it's all hackable, MAC address
filtering is cloneable but would at least slow them down. Wireless
isn't secure no matter what, but it's secure enough (with basic
restrictions) to keep 99.8% of users out, think about the skills of
your friends and family and do some of your own math :)
Fire it up, put the basic restrictions on, and don't worry about it,
is my position. If you worry that much about it, you may as well not
use it- you are not gaining that much security no matter what you implement.
