No, I have had only good experiences with G4 towers, not at all finicky.
Maybe there is a simpler solution to your problems than the ones
suggested by other postings here. We had the same problem when
switching from 10.2 to 10.3, and the problem turned out to be the VIDEO
CARD.
What kind do you have? We had the ProGraphics ProFormance III (I think
it was called), which was very cool in OS9 but we could never get it to
work with 10.3. So took it out and got one of the stock AGP cards. Now
all is well
So far, I would say my experience with AGP G4s is less than stellar -
are
they always this finicky?
Twice now, I have successfully installed and updated a Panther OS on
this
machine (G4/600mhz), only to be met with a blue screen of death (the
desktop
does not mount after the status-bar OS X pane is finished) with the
calibrated pinwheel going round and round.
