Click the reveal arrow and see what's actually going on. That shows the OS 9 startup screen; you'll be able to see the extensions load, etc. Try starting it without extensions. I now note: All the icons for extensions appear, then go away, as usual. Only then does it hang. I started it without extensions and it went fine. So I plan either to spend an hour or more futzing with it to see which one is causing the problem, or just re-installing 9 on the other HD and using that as my Classic source. Probably the latter since I expect it to take rather less time (a commodity in very short supply right now). Just out of curiosity, why would upgrading to Panther have done this?
