Not terribly important - I like to amaze the PC users in the office when I have 9 apps running on my PowerBook and it keeps working without crashing

So it is more a case of looking at the G3 and thinking - 'what else can I do that is cool and useful that the poor pee cee users can't do'

OK so that plan is scuppered

However burning and ripping with a CPU upgraded to a G4 1GHz would be possible? :)

That might work, depending. If you're burning a data DVD, possibly, if your actually authoring a video VD, no, again, that's very processor intensive as is ripping CD's.

Part of the problem is that both drives will still be contending for the same ATA bus. If you put the CD drive into a FW case and use that, this would work better.

Why is it important that both activities occur at once?
