Isn't there also room on the B&W G3 Rev.b 'case floor' for more
drives beneath the optical drives?

Yes, and those two places are reserved for two 18/36 GB SCSI drives,
which are attached with (and to) an Apple LVD/SE cable and controller. A pair of 18 GB 7200 rpm in one, and a pair of 36 GB 10000 rpm in the other.

So ...

Each B&W can accommodate a pair of 60/120 GB drives on the UATA/33 bus,
for system residence; a fast optical recorder/rerecorder on the
"multiword" bus for CD/DVD authoring; a very large ATA drive, also on the
"multiword" bus, for long-term storage; and two very high performance
SCSI drives, for short-term storage.

Those bottom places aren't "reserved" for SCSI devices, ANY 3.5" drive can go there, it's a good place to mount that other SATA drive Sean's talking about.

Also adding an additional fast CD recorder is useful even if you have a superdrive. My superdrive is 8x CD, the CDRW it replaced was 52X. That thing burned CDs really fast.
