This is a YMMV thing, but I like to get a Uninterruptible Power  
Supply and have them for all my Macs.
So far nobody has gotten fried or had any troubles with loss of  
power. I heard that's hard on the
motherboards, even when it's a slump in voltage. The UPS makes sure  
the Mac gets a consistent
voltage at all times and when the power fails altogether runs it off  
the battery for awhile so I
can shut it down safely.

They're kind of pricey though, so as I said YMMV.
