Hi Cara, Well, call it an educated guess. Generally, on Linux unless I intentionally update the version in the Ubuntu updates is a major version or so behind whatever Sun has posted for developers. Ubuntu is pretty good grabbing the Java jdk and jre source and posting it in their commercial add ons, but like with Mac they don't upgrade every single time a new version is posted on Sun's web site. So I was guessing correctly that Mac grabs the most popular and widely used versions and incorperate it in to their operating system rather than grabbing the latest available version.
