Nod they did fix the problem, so I hear. Wow, yeah, those overheating problems must have been quite bad. Oh, hey, what? I smell smoke. Oh, I burned something. Hmm, the picture just went all fuzzy! I'll never forget though the dumbest thing ever. Someone called me at 2 in the morning, a friend of mine, pannicking because a system wouldn't power on. I don't even remember what it was now. Anyway he was like well, its not turning on! I don't get anything!
Is it plugged in? Oh, let me check. Turns out it wasn't.

Mines just fine. I still say that happened a lot on the older models. They
fixed a lot of th eissues with the hardware. Like the GPU melting. That
was my favorite.

ps3s are experiencing way less problems than xbox, for sure. Disc
scratching? red ring of death? no thanks. There's a section on wikipedia
entirely devoted to xbox 360 problems. don't get me wrong, I really love
some of the xbox 360s features, but until they fix these issues, I won't be
getting one.

Well, that's you - actually, some people have no problems with the
controllers. Others somehow get things rattling around inside. My
friend has one like that - yet another friend says his r2 button
sticks badly, and yet another has no problems.
The first dualshock controllers were absolute tanks. They could handle
anything. Now its just cheaply made, expensively priced (for what you
get). Something like the lenns in the ps2. Some people have had luck
with it, others have had no luck at all and got the dreaded Disc Read
error, very very common for ps2.We'll see how the ps3 goes. From what
I've been able to find, some ps3's have already experienced problems.
Dating back all the way to the first ps1 released (made out of plastic
that overheated very easily) to now, sony's build quality has
decreased a lot. Even my stario might be needing to be repaired after
only 4 years of light use.

Electronics aren't being built like they used to. People buy cameras
and monitors and look at numbers, not reliability, and don't do
research. I have a set of surround sound speakers that would be worth
1000 dollars or more now, but back in 1995 when my brother had them
they were only worth a few hundrid. They still work.

Take the sega cd, for example. Very few have experienced lens failure.
Its a fuse in there that can be replaced easily that usually ends up
being the culprit. Even the dreamcasts is hard to kill. Mind you
they'll go eventually, but not as quick as sony.

I don't mean to be insulting sony here but its a fact. Look up disc
read errors for ps2 or ps1 and you'll find most likely hundrids of
discussions on the subject.

Wow, you guys must be really hard on controllers. I've had my ps3 for
going on a year now, both my brother and I play it, and we've never
had any problems with the controllers. I did notice they were a bit
smaller than the ps2 controllers but that's about it.

Hi,
Yeah, have to agree with you on this. I played a little with a PS3
at the store and i also thought the PS3 controllers were cheaply
made and flimsy. I much prefer the XBox controllers to the PS3
controllers, and even my PS2 controllers are better.

The thing is flimzier. It seems with every generation of consoles
the controllers and things get flimzier. The xbox controller might
be big, but its sturdy and doesn't feel like it could break. Same with
the wii mote.
The wii mote, in fact, is quite interesting since you can do funky
things with it.
