I dislike forums, and generally don't participate in them on a regular 
basis.

I do like gmane.org for lists. Newsreader format makes it easy to 
subscribe/unsubscribe, plus searchable archives. What's not to like? :)

Ganglia lists are already set up on gmane:
gmane.comp.monitoring.ganglia.general
gmane.comp.monitoring.ganglia.devel
