Tell me about it. Just a couple of months ago I needed to compile the venerable Adventure game from 1977 sources (for my grandson). That was no fun, although there was, of course, nothing wrong with the source code, and once I tweaked gfortran into accepting that flavor of Fortran, it compiled and ran just fine.
