Let's not underestimate the effect our releases have in terms of PR
and how much GCC actually is in need of PR.  I know (us) engineers
are generally not too fond of marketing, but it's more important than
one might think.

I agree.  My suggestion would be that we support the RMs by helping
them create such announcements; for example, they could post them to
our mailing list and review/update them here.
