i,

Last week I got a Pictus gecko (Paroedura pictus), also known as Panther, Ocelot geckos, Madagascar
Ground, Big-headed geckos. I've read all the caresheets I can find, but as usual, I still want to know more about my new gecko...

Congrats, they are great

She seems very shy.  From what I've read, it seems they are quite vulnerable to stress, so I've been leaving her to settle in, just picking up her hides to check she's ok morning and night, and feeding/watering her.  But, apart from that I rarely see her.  Will she just take a while to settle in, or should I expect to rarely see her?

Yeah, it took both of mine a good 2 weeksm and I still dont see them to often, they bask at night oddly enough, well mine do.

Also, I'm sure I've heard her, on two occasions make a high pitched squeak (a bit like that of a bird of prey), she was in her hide on both occasions.  Is this normal?, does anyone know what it means?

Mine use to scream. Its normal. Picaso use to scream when he got baths, but he got use to it. he has issues with doing the daily. Most dont, he also has Metobolic Bone Deseas from his past owners neglect. I think its a slim chance that other geckos get it. If the tail is crooked or they walk funny its a possability though.

I've found a reasonable number of caresheets on the web, but they are all quite basic.  Anyone know of any great Pictus sites?

not to honk my own horn, but I put alot of stuff up there that I found helpful as far as dealing with Pictus go. They are really coll pets, but most dont like to be handled. I have had picaso for a long time and he still runs, but also he is a special case. I hope I helped. If you want to ask me anything else, you can always email me direct at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
