Hi,

Thanks for all the info... I've had her for nearly two weeks now, hopefully she'll
calm down soon.

>>From my experience they are voracious little eaters. Hows your pictus appetite?
I haven't actually seen her eat yet... she seems very wary of doing anything while I'm
in the room. I know she is eating though as the crickets (and I've offered her a
couple of waxworms) have been disappearing- and she's been going to the bathroom...

>>What kind of setup do you have?
I have her in a basic set-up at the moment- quarantine style. She's in an 18 inch
long tank on papertowel substrate, UTH, an ordinary light on a timer, moist hide, and
three other dry hides and a shallow water bowl. I was thinking about getting some
plastic plants to put in there, to provide more cover, so she might feel more secure
about coming out of her hide... I've rarely seen her out and about, but maybe she's
out exploring after I've gone to bed.

>>The squeeks that you hear, I'm not sure what that could be. What sex is the pictus?
I was told she is female... and to me (who's most familiar with leos) she does look
female.

>>Another thing about these geckos is they are really really easy to breed.
I might breed her way off in the future, but I like to get to know their behaviour and
be totally confident that I know all about them first. I might get another female
(from the same supplier, so I can put them straight in together)- would that be a good
idea, or would that be more likely to unsettle her again?

>>You can hold pictus geckos, as long as the gecko isn't skittish.
I picked her up only once since I got her, she stayed very still. She seemed like she
was trying not to move at all, and that gave me the impression that she was very
scared, so I only held her for a minute and put her back in the tank. I think I'll
wait until I see her out and about a bit more before I start trying to handle her
again.

>>Unfortunately my gecko died from being eggbound, impaction or parasite. after she
>layed a clutch of eggs.
Oh, thats sad, I'm really sorry to hear that...

Thanks again for the info,
Pauline
