Ales, I've just compiled and installed gEDA from the v20050313 source tar balls on two Redhat 9 machines. Both machines already had all of the required dependencies installed. It took a little trial and error but everything went surprisingly well IMHO.
One point however. I installed gEDA to /usr/local/geda and used the make all approach from the geda root directory as a non-root user. libgeda was the first to be compiled but couldn't be installed because of the need for root access. Once I'd worked out that I needed to enter libgeda/ and manually install as root everything worked fairly well after that. If geda where installed in my home directory this would not be an issue but when root access is required it can be confusing. Perhaps there needs to be some instructions cover this option.
