And to answer your other question... you don't know unless you apply the patch in my earlier email, something like adding "buffer->local = true;" If that makes things faster, the VBO code was causing problems. The VBO code seems fine on my laptop, but I just can't make it work fast on my own NVidia. (With whatever latest driver Ubuntu installs for it).
