Probably. :)

I’m also a home user and have broken my system repeatedly. If I’m not
breaking my system, it’s because I’m busy with some other fun. Back
when I was playing with PaX and Gentoo was less mature, I did
sometimes ‘have to’ put flags of that sort in to get a program built
with PIE, until I switched to the hardened compiler, anyway. I got
tired of that, eventually, and now use the plain vanilla 4.1 compiler
and standard executables.

(As a programmer who likes handwritten parsers, I like the 4.1
compiler because it has a handwritten parser. :) )
