Sure. And it's a benefit, if your package mangler is carefully
designed to avoid doing unnecessary I/O. It's just not the primary
point. The primary point is that it handles whatever we feel like doing
in the future, even the "conveniently ignoring" stuff that you're
conveniently ignoring.
