Yeah, I have the courier-imapd-ssl daemon running on my server even though none of my users get their mail through it. While writing a comment for that bugzilla thread, I actually set up an account in thunderbird to retrieve mail for one of my accounts via imap... and it didn't work: login failed.

So, a) I'm not sure why imap doesn't work and b) I'm not looking forward to getting my users to change their mail config. Then again, I guess they wouldn't have to. I could just send out a bulk mail explaining how to configure for imap if they wanted to.

Do you use courier for smtp as well? Do you use the virtual domain features of courier to handle your domains? Do you use use any other mail apps? Anyone else got an opinion/warning/advice?

thanks,

b

So, let me revise my question: is anyone using courier for all their mail
needs? Any problems with doing so? Any reasons why I should stick with
qmail? My server handles a few dozen email users over about eight domains
with moderate traffic.

I'm using courier-imap without a glitch since about nine months. It's serving three domains and thirty users, POP3 and IMAP with and without SSL. Nobody's actually using IMAP, though, so I can't tell how/if that works well.

As far as I can tell it's a very reliable product.
