For a long time now, I have the 'hang under heavy load / scsi' problem. I'm not sure if this is what this thread is about but I'll bring it up anyway. Last time I upgraded a kernel, it was to 2.6.11 and it seems to survive better than earlier ones were but (nearly?) always hangs if I 'reboot' or 'shutdown'. I could attach a console to see if there's a panic (it's a headless box) but there is nothing written in message logs. conversely, the U5 runs the same version kernel but never ever breaks.
